Job summary

Harper Smith Recruitment Ltd in Hamilton seeks a Commercial Construction leader to own delivery and growth for the Waikato region. You’ll sit on the leadership team, shaping strategy, driving profitability, and building a high‑performing regional team.

You’ll lead multiple projects, manage budgets and load, strengthen client and consultant relationships, and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, QSs and support staff to deliver on time, to budget, with safe, quality outcomes.

• Proven leadership experience in commercial construction.
• Proven Project Management experience in commercial construction.
• Experience running multiple projects and managing teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive margin and performance.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute at leadership level.
• Confident communicator who can build relationships across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Drive forward workload through local Waikato relationships and business development
• Contribute to strategic planning, budgets, and overall business performance
• Monitor financial performance, margins, and reporting to Directors
• Oversee multiple commercial construction projects to ensure delivery, quality, and programme targets are met
• Strengthen relationships with key clients, consultants, and subcontractors
• Grow, develop and lead a team of Project Managers, Site Managers, QSs and support staff
• Champion a high-performance culture across the business
• Ensure strong QA and Health & Safety outcomes across all projects
