Maxion Civil is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead civil construction projects in Rotorua and across the Bay of Plenty.
This hands-on role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, stakeholder management, and a focus on safety, quality and delivery on time and within budget. Regular travel to project sites is expected, with opportunities to work across multiple sites and mentor site teams.
Maxion Civil is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team, based in Rotorua and responsible for managing civil construction projects across the Bay of Plenty region.
This is a hands‑on project management role requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness, stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
Regular travel to project sites across the Bay of Plenty will be required, with occasional travel to other company worksites where necessary.
Manage civil construction projects from commencement through to completion
Plan, coordinate and monitor project programmes, resources, costs and delivery
Manage project budgets, cashflow, progress claims, variations and subcontractor payments
Ensure contractual requirements, notices, RFIs and project documentation are completed accurately and on time
Coordinate with clients, consultants, councils, subcontractors and other key stakeholders
Manage subcontractors and project teams to achieve programme and quality requirements
Monitor project risks and implement appropriate controls
Ensure projects comply with company quality, environmental and health & safety requirements
Conduct and oversee site pre-starts, toolbox meetings and project documentation
Support, mentor and manage Site Managers, Supervisors and site teams
Monitor project performance and report progress, risks and issues to senior management
Ensure defects and quality issues are identified and addressed promptly
We are looking for someone who has:
Proven experience managing civil construction or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of project planning, cost control and contract administration
Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
Good understanding of NZ construction contracts, preferably including NZS 3910
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Sound understanding of health & safety, quality and environmental requirements
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
A practical, proactive and results-focused approach
A full New Zealand driver's licence
Fluency in Mandarin would be preferred
Experience in civil infrastructure, drainage, water, wastewater, roading, concrete or related civil works would be advantageous.
This position is based in Rotorua and will primarily be responsible for projects throughout the Bay of Plenty region.
The successful applicant must be comfortable with regular travel between project sites as part of the role. From time to time, travel to other Maxion Civil projects or worksites may also be required depending on operational needs.
