Assemble, a reputable civil contractor, is seeking a Project Manager to join their Dunedin-based team. This hands-on role leads projects from tender through to completion, reporting to senior leadership and ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

You will coordinate site crews, subcontractors and suppliers, manage contracts and variations, monitor costs and programme delivery, and champion health, safety and environmental compliance across Otago.

Job description

We are partnered with a reputable civil contractor seeking a Project Manager to join their Dunedin based team.

This is a hands on role offering the opportunity to lead projects from tender through to completion / hand over.

About the Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of civil construction projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include
  • Planning, programming and managing projects from start to completion.
  • Coordinating site crews, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project milestones.
  • Managing project documentation, including contracts, variations, progress claims and site records.
  • Monitoring project performance, budgets, costs and programme delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Championing health, safety and environmental best practice across all project activities.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, stakeholders and project teams.
  • Identifying risks, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
  • Experience managing construction projects (ideally civil construction, vertical construction or consultancy experience will also be considered).
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, contract administration and site operations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing variations, project costs and progress claims.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • A demonstrated commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance.
