Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Production Runner & Materials Assistant in Auckland for a 3‑month contract. The role involves transporting materials across sites, supporting the production coordination team, and expediting critical items to prevent delays.

A NZ driver’s license is required, with Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm hours. The position involves loading and unloading materials, communicating ETAs to the team, and ensuring timely deliveries to shopfloor areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in supply chain is advantageous.
• Experience in production coordination is beneficial.

Job Title: Production Runner & Materials Assistant

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 3 months

Rate: $30 per hour + 8% holiday pay

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Overview This is a dynamic, hands-on role responsible for transporting critical materials, subassemblies, and components between various locations across the wider Auckland area. Acting as a crucial link in our supply chain, you will ensure items get exactly where they need to be to keep operations moving. When not on the road, you will act as a key support resource for the production coordinator team, helping to keep production fed with materials, following up on open work orders, and resolving blockers.

Please note: A valid, full New Zealand Driver's License is a strict requirement for this role, as frequent driving is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport & Logistics (The "Runner"): Drive a designated vehicle to safely and efficiently transport parts, consumables, and materials between suppliers, external sites, and our main facilities across Auckland.
• External Expediting: Act as the physical "last mile" expediter by urgently picking up and delivering critical items from local suppliers, receipting, or QC to prevent production delays.
• Production Coordination Support: When capacity allows, assist the production planners and coordinators with daily tasks, including checking the status of open work orders and issuing items to production.
• Material Handling: Load and unload transport vehicles, execute material movements upon arrival at the facility, and ensure items are delivered directly to the correct shopfloor departments or kanban circuits.
• Problem Solving & Communication: Actively monitor for potential delays while out on the road or on the shopfloor, communicate ETAs to the production team, and help clear material blockers.
• Teamwork: Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment to ensure the timely delivery of materials for the vehicle integration timeline.

Key Requirements

• Valid Full New Zealand Driver's License is mandatory.
• Confidence and spatial awareness to navigate and drive safely across the Auckland region.
• Ability to comfortably lift and move materials, loading and unloading vehicles as required.
• Strong communication skills to liaise between external locations and the internal production team.
