Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Process Chemist to join the pharmaceutical development team in Queenstown. The role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling up synthesis processes for APIs, with strong collaboration with formulation and analytical chemists to ensure robust manufacturing and regulatory compliance.

The position is on-site in Queenstown, offering hands-on lab work and close teamwork in a modern facility, contributing to the delivery of life-saving medicines.

Qualifications

• MSc/PhD in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in process chemistry, preferably pharma.
• Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and scale-up.
• Familiar with GMP guidelines and regulatory aspects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize synthetic routes for API intermediates and final products.
• Scale up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scales.
• Conduct process safety assessments and implement control measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during process development and manufacturing.
• Characterize materials to ensure quality and consistency.
• Prepare process documentation, including batch records and filings.
