Job summary

Stantec in Auckland is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer / Team Leader to guide the Auckland building services mechanical team, delivering advanced and complex projects across healthcare, laboratories, education, and commercial sectors.

You will mentor engineers, balance delivery with client engagement, grow the team, and help drive business development while ensuring adherence to NZ Building Code and international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience supervising and developing professional engineering staff.
• Senior leadership experience in building services projects.
• Knowledge of NZ Building Code and relevant standards.
• Chartered status is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Auckland mechanical team and coordinate engineers and designers.
• Provide technical leadership, design review, and quality oversight.
• Mentor and develop staff through performance conversations.
• Build trusted client relationships and identify growth opportunities.
• Manage pipeline, resourcing, and project delivery across sectors.
