Avanti Finance Group in New Zealand seeks a commercially minded pricing leader who can translate data, market insights and customer behaviour into strategic decisions. Reporting to the Head of Product & Pricing, you will guide two analysts and collaborate with Product, Risk, Treasury, Finance and Executives to shape pricing strategy.

You will identify pricing opportunities, own initiatives from concept to delivery, monitor portfolio performance and present actionable insights to senior forums.

The role

While a strong analytical foundation is important, this isn't a role for someone who wants to spend their day buried in models. We're looking for a commercially minded leader who can take data, market insights, customer behaviour, portfolio performance and stakeholder perspectives, connect the dots, and help the business make better decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Product & Pricing, you'll work across Product, Risk, Treasury, Finance and Executive stakeholders while providing day to day guidance and support to two talented analysts within the team.This is a role where you'll be expected to challenge thinking, influence stakeholders, and bring a commercial lens to every recommendation.

What you'll do

• Identify and drive pricing optimisation opportunities across pricing, fees, commission structures, campaigns, channel performance, customer behaviour and revenue leakage.
  
• Takeownership of identifying pricing and portfolio optimisation initiatives and lead these from concept through to delivery.
  
• Monitor portfolio performance, market trends, competitor activity, and emerging risks.
  
• Develop commercially focused recommendations and present insights to senior stakeholders and executive forums.
  
• Partner closely with Distribution, Product, Finance, IT, Credit, Risk, and Treasury teams to improve business outcomes.
  
• Review outputs, challenge assumptions, methodologies and recommendations to ensure decisions are analytically robust and commercially sound.
  
• Help strengthen pricing frameworks and support ongoing development of the function.
  
• Provide day to day guidance, mentoring and support to analysts within the team.
  

What we're looking for

This role would suit someone who's spent several years building strong analytical capability and is now looking for more influence, more visibility and a greater seat at the table. You'll still work with data, but your value will come from helping the business understand what the numbers mean and what should happen next.

• A strong analytical background, ideally gained in pricing, portfolio analytics, strategy, consulting or commercial analysis.
  
• Translates analysis into clear, actionable recommendations and confidently articulates the best path forward.
  
• Proven ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders.
  
• Able to navigate ambiguity, connect disparate pieces of information, and form a clear point of view on where the business should focus next
  
• Self-starter who anticipates needs, takes ownership, and independently drives work forward with minimal oversight.
  
• Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge ideas constructively.
  
• Experience bringing together multiple sources of information to form practical recommendations.
  
• A collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring others and helping teams succeed.
  
• Able to navigate ambiguity, connect disparate pieces of information, and form a clear point of view on where the business should focus next
  

*Experience in financial services is helpful but not essential.
