Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician for our client in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of instrumentation and control systems essential for safe plant operation.
The ideal candidate has a National Diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years of experience in industrial automation, with proficiency in PLC/DCS, HART and Modbus, and strong troubleshooting skills.
Qualifications
- National Diploma or equivalent in instrumentation, electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as an Instrumentation and Control Technician in power/industrial settings.
- Proficiency with instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow and level sensors.
- Experience with PLC and DCS systems; basic programming/configuration skills.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (HART, Modbus).
- Ability to read P&IDs, electrical drawings and control logic; safety‑minded.
Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, maintain and repair instrumentation including transmitters, sensors and valves.
- Troubleshoot process control loops, PLCs and DCS systems; diagnose faults.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to schedules and safety standards.
- Read P&IDs, electrical schematics and manuals; document activities and parts used.
- Assist commissioning and start‑up of new equipment; work with engineers and techs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety policies.
