Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Industrial Automation Technician to join its Queenstown team. You will install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and robotics to keep automated manufacturing processes running smoothly.

You will develop PLC logic, test HMI interfaces, perform diagnostics, document maintenance, and collaborate with engineering and production to implement upgrades and ensure high reliability and efficiency in a dynamic industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Industrial Automation Technician or similar role.
• Proficient in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI software.
• Experience with robotics, VFDs and industrial networking protocols.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs and robotics.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI interfaces for new and existing processes.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on automated machinery.
• Identify and resolve automation-related issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement upgrades and improvements.
• Maintain detailed documentation of automation systems, programming, and maintenance records.
