Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Control Systems Technician for Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA within industrial environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Industrial Control Systems Technician or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control system diagrams.
• Experience with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles relevant to industrial automation.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues.
• Relevant technical qualification or certification in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or a related field.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime and standby duties.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of control system hardware and software.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying root causes of failures.
• Perform software modifications and updates on PLCs and HMIs as required.
• Interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Conduct functional testing of control systems after installations or repairs.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and operators to optimize system performance.
• Maintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform urgent repairs to minimize production downtime.
