Job summary

Totara Farm Trust is seeking caring and flexible Personal Assistants (Support Workers) to join a team supporting adults with varying abilities across South Auckland homes in Takanini, Papakura and Kingseat.

Positions include 2x full-time, 1x part-time and 2x casual roles. Applicants should hold a full NZ driver's license, be legally eligible to work in NZ, and be prepared for rostered day and sleepover shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience with intellectual disability and dementia.
• Experience with Autism and Prader-Willi Syndrome (not essential but a bonus).
• A great sense of humour.
• Confidence in supporting a variety of people in a home environment.
• A flexible, solution-focused approach.
• A team attitude to your work, while prioritising the needs and desires of the people supported.
• A passion for advocacy and making a positive difference in people's lives.
• Able to work rostered shifts during the day and overnight (sleepovers).

Responsibilities

Personal Assistant (Support Worker) Positions

Due to recent growth and the changing needs of the people we support, we currently have opportunities for
2 x full-time, 1 x part-time and 2 x casual Personal Assistants (the title we use for Support Workers) to walk alongside some awesome people with different abilities. The people you would be supporting have an intellectual disability, but this does not hold them back from living a great life!

You will be working in homes of various sizes. The adult flatmates (male and female) have different support needs and aspirations for a great life. All homes are in South Auckland – Takanini, Papakura and Kingseat.

The perfect candidates will have:

• You will never be on shift alone on any of our properties.
• You will be encouraged and supported to gain a Level 3 and 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing

• We are only small and would like to keep it that way. We currently support 29 people and together they employ around 50 staff.
