Job description

About us

Southern Cross Health Insurance is shaping a healthier Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is simple: empowering our members to live well for longer. We’re here to give peace of mind through timely access to quality care, inspire healthier living, and lead positive change across the health system. As a New Zealand-owned, member-based organisation, we’re building a future where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do – delivering exceptional value for our members and creating an environment where our people thrive.

Now is an exciting time to join us. You’ll be part of a high-performing, values-driven team where people are at the heart of everything we do – and in return for your talent, you’ll have the opportunity to grow, make an impact, and be proud of the difference your work makes.

About the role

We’re looking for a People Systems Analyst to join our high-performing team on a permanent basis.

We’ve got a big agenda ahead of us. There’s plenty happening across Workday, people analytics, Power BI, AI and automation, governance and employee experience. We’re investing in our People Technology and Analytics capability and are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data and finding better ways to use technology to support our people and leaders.

This isn’t the sort of role where you’ll spend your days processing tickets or keeping the lights on. One week you might be troubleshooting a complex issue, building a dashboard, improving a business process, supporting a Workday enhancement, or investigating a new capability that could make life easier for our people and leaders.

We’re a small team, so everyone gets exposure to a broad range of initiatives and the opportunity to genuinely influence how our systems, reporting and analytics evolve.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting and improving Workday and related People Technology platforms
  • Developing, configuring and maintaining Power BI dashboards, reports and workforce analytics, including designing data models, creating visualisations and delivering insights that support business decision‑making.
  • Helping shape and deliver our People reporting and analytics roadmap
  • Partnering with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical solutions
  • Investigating system, process and data issues and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Using data and insights to identify trends, opportunities and risks
  • Supporting testing, releases and system enhancements
  • Improving data quality, governance and security
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, automate manual tasks and improve the employee experience through better system design and configuration
  • Contributing to initiatives that help us get more value from our technology investments
About you

You might already work in People Systems, HRIS, People Analytics, Business Intelligence or another systems-focused role. You don’t need to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who’s curious, enjoys solving problems, loves working with data and wants to continue building their capability across People Technology and Analytics.

You’ll likely bring:
  • Experience working with People, HR or enterprise systems
  • Advanced Power BI dashboard development experience, including creating dashboards from the ground up, designing visualisations, modelling data and translating business requirements into meaningful reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence working with data, reporting and insights
  • The ability to build strong relationships and work with a range of stakeholders
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • An interest in technology and how it can be used to improve people’s day‑to‑day experience at work

Experience with Workday would be valuable, but we’re equally interested in people who’ve built capability in other enterprise platforms and are keen to learn. Highly regarded candidates will bring hands‑on experience developing and configuring Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions, with the ability to translate business requirements into meaningful insights that support better decision-making.

Why join us?

You’ll join a team with a lot going on and plenty of opportunities to learn. We’re investing heavily in our People Technology and Analytics capability and have an ambitious roadmap that includes workforce insights, Power BI reporting, automation, AI, governance and platform improvements.

It’s a role with real ownership, variety and the chance to shape how technology, data and insights support our people and leaders long term.

Our values who we are and what’s important to us.

Ng ākau nui. Āhurutanga. Tikanga.

Join a team that’s always there, always real, always true. If you thrive in a purpose-driven, diverse and supportive culture, we think you’ll love working with us.

What we offer you

  • Health insurancefor you and your immediatewhānau
  • Life insurancecover and discounts onpet and travel insurance
  • Extraparental leave benefitsandfinancial wellbeingsupport
