Job summary

Beyond Recruitment in South Auckland is seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to deliver accurate, compliant payroll services across New Zealand and Australia. You will own end-to-end payroll processes and provide excellent internal customer service in a hands-on role.

You will report to the Payroll Manager and work in a stable, permanent position with a team-focused environment and opportunities to develop Australian payroll knowledge. A hybrid setup with one day a week WFH is supported.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll experience in New Zealand
• Strong knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and compliance
• Exposure to Australian payroll processes is advantageous but training provided
• Experience with PayGlobal or similar payroll system
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisation and deadline management
• Customer-focused communication skills
• Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, monthly, and ad hoc payrolls
• Review and validate timesheets, leave applications and payroll data
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records
• Manage new starter, variation and termination processing
• Complete NZIRD and ATO payroll filings and payments
• Support NZ and AU payroll administration and compliance requirements
• Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers
• Assist with audits and year-end reconciliations
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join a well-established manufacturing business based in South Auckland.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and compliant payroll services across both New Zealand and Australia. This is a hands-on, end-to-end payroll position suited to someone who enjoys ownership of the payroll process and providing excellent internal customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly, monthly, and ad hoc payrolls

• Manage new starter, variation, and termination processing
• Complete IRD and ATO payroll filings and payments
• Support New Zealand and Australian payroll administration and compliance requirements

• Identify and implement payroll process improvements
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies

About You

• At least 3 years' payroll experience within New Zealand
• Solid understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• Exposure to Australian payroll processes is advantageous, but full training will be provided
• Experience with PayGlobal or a similar payroll system
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• A customer-focused approach and confident communication skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
