Community Connections – Upper Hutt, North Island, is recruiting a dedicated Support Worker for our Supported Living team. This part-time role offers 20 hours per week in Upper Hutt, with an hourly rate between $24.85 and $29.68 depending on qualification.

You will support individuals with daily routines, meals, mobility, and community activities in a safe, welcoming environment. We value patience, empathy and consistency.

About the Role

In this role, you will provide hands‑on support with daily routines, including home management, cooking, mobility assistance, and grocery shopping. You will also encourage participation in community and recreational activities. Your support will positively impact a diverse group of individuals, fostering an environment that is safe, empowering, and welcoming.

This is a part‑time position requiring 20 hours of work every two weeks, with the possibility of additional hours in the future.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates patience, empathy, and consistency, particularly when supporting individuals who may sometimes exhibit challenging behaviours. Your calm demeanour, sense of humour, and commitment to our core values will help create meaningful moments and facilitate lasting progress for those you support.

About You

We are looking for a compassionate and dependable Support Worker who is committed to making a positive impact in people’s lives. The ideal candidate should be kind, caring, and dedicated, possessing strong time management, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills. A great sense of humour, empathy, and a passion for helping others are essential qualities for this role.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging in meaningful activities and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. Additionally, the candidate should have interests in cooking, crafts, and swimming, as these activities align with the passions of the individuals being supported.

Essential Requirements
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand

  • Full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence

  • Willingness to complete Police and Oranga Tamariki safety checks

  • Experience supporting people with complex support needs or behaviours of concern

  • Experience supporting autistic people

  • A high standard of written and spoken English
