Job summary

Rosewood Matakauri in Queenstown seeks a senior operations leader to act as second in command of Lodge Operations. The role reports to the Director of Operations and drives guest experience, standards, and team development in a luxury setting.

The successful candidate will have 4+ years in 5 Star Luxury Hotels or Boutique Lodges, strong F&B/Front Office knowledge, and proven financial acumen, with the ability to lead in a high-pressure, service-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of senior-level experience in 5 Star Luxury Hotels and/or Boutique Lodges.
• Exceptional Food & Beverage and/or Front Office knowledge.
• Understanding of housekeeping & maintenance procedures.
• Excellent management and communication skills.
• Ability to drive a team and foster teamwork.
• Administrative management experience with strong financial acumen.

About the role

A rare leadership opportunity has become available in our Ultra Luxury Lodge. Reporting to the Director of Operations (\"DOO\") you will assume the position of second in command of all Lodge Operations and full responsibility in the DOO’s absence.

This is a key position that will directly contribute to the day to day operations of the lodge. The successful candidate will need to have extensive hospitality experience, a strong focus on excellence, plenty of enthusiasm and a flexible approach. The right applicant must be self-motivated, a team player and able to work well in a high-pressure environment.

The role involves

• Ensuring the ultimate guest experience, through a genuinely warm and personalised service
• Inspiring the highest standards through all core departments of the Lodge
• Effective financial and manning management
• Coaching and development of our department managers
• Managing logistics and communications around groups and events, ensuring a seamless outcome
• Ensuring an incredible employee experience, including, (but not limited to) recruitment, associate housing, engagement and development

About you

The successful candidate will have skills and experience:

• A passion for service delivery and hospitality
• Previous (minimum 4 years) senior level experience in 5 Star Luxury Hotels and or Boutique Lodges
• Exceptional Food & Beverage and / or Front Office knowledge
• Understanding of housekeeping & maintenance procedures
• A hardworking and co-operative manner
• Excellent management ability and communication skills
• Ability to drive a team and foster team-work
• Previous experience in development and/or coaching
• Administrative management experience, including strong financial acumen
• A high level of attention to detail and commitment to high standards and quality
• An awareness of developments within the food & lodge industries as well as international trends in hospitality
