Job summary

DEG in Christchurch, Timaru or Hamilton is seeking a delivery leader to run scheduling, resourcing and on-time delivery across three sites. You report to the General Manager and lead the inspection team, working with technical services, compliance and finance leads.

Delivery is your call. We value experience leading field-based teams, strong planning under pressure and a commercial focus on utilization and job costing.

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain standards without micromanagement and to define scope and authorisation clearly.

DEG has been inspecting, testing and certifying equipment in New Zealand since 1991. High voltage testing, electrical calibration, cranes and lifting gear, pressure equipment, NDT and EWP certification.

The role

We have combined two operations roles into one. This role runs delivery for the whole business, scheduling, resourcing, utilisation and on time delivery across all three sites.

You report to the General Manager and lead the inspection team. You work alongside our technical services, compliance and finance leads. Delivery is your call.

What you will do

• Plan and resource work across three sites around fixed compliance cycles
• Lead a technical team that is spread out, and keep the standard consistent
• Own utilisation, job margin and work in progress
• Plan capability and get the right inspectors to the right places
• Make sure every job sits inside our accredited scopes
• Lead health and safety in the field
• Handle client issues when they emerge?
• Work in the field when a job needs supervision or extra capacity

What you need

• Experience running a technical or field based team. Time on the tools, so you know the work and the people doing it.
• Good planning under pressure. A commercial understanding of utilisation and job costing. The ability to hold a standard without micromanaging. A clear line on scope and authorisation.
• A trade or tertiary qualification in a relevant field. Full driver licence and willing to travel.
• Experience under 17020 or 17025, or in electricity distribution, is an advantage.
