Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Become part of a trusted team with decades of experience.

We bridge the gap between electrical installation and the electricity distribution business to keep Canterbury connected. From isolations and reinstatements to network work and temporary/permanent connections, we are approved by all metering-approved test houses in Canterbury, including works on the Orion network.

Owned and operated by electrical inspectors for almost 30 years, we have an exceptionally high level of industry knowledge and technical understanding of network connections. Our in-field and management teams are competent and qualified, allowing us to build, inspect, connect, meter, and liven.

This role includes providing in-field electrical and services work, as trained and competent to do so, including but not limited to:

  • Inspection and livening (liven and test, central supply, inspections, unmetered temp supplies)
  • Metering services including smart and legacy metering, aerial installation, tariff reprogramming, asbestos removal, meter relocations and capacity upgrades and/or downgrades
  • Cable breakouts, decommissioning, installing additional fuses into distribution boxes, isolations overhead and underground
  • A requirement to be able to work at heights – ladder and pole climbing
  • Ensuring the delivery of services and project management requirements as requested
  • Ensuring a strict sense of health and safety compliance, ethics, confidentiality, and professional service delivery
  • Responding to the changing environment of the electrical contracts and services we offer
  • Strong and concise communications directly with customers, suppliers, property owners, and sub-contractors
  • Exceptional time management skills and proactive problem-solving skills
Mandatory requirements - all applicants must:
  • Be a New Zealand citizen and currently reside in New Zealand
  • Hold a New Zealand electrical registration and a valid practising licence
  • Have sound knowledge of all relevant industry rules and regulations
  • Hold a full and clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Be confident using computers, mobile applications and other digital systems
What we off for the right applicant:
  • Company work vehicle and mobile
  • Protective clothing and equipment as per industry requirements
  • A varied role within an experienced and established team

Our standard working week is 42.5 hours; however, there may be a requirement to work additional hours from time-to-time to meet project and customer requirements.
