Job summary

The Better Packaging Co – Auckland, North Island

Better Packaging Co is a fast growing, purpose-led packaging company on a mission to solve pollution, poverty and climate change through better packaging. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead our supply chain and operations function.

This is not a corporate management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being in the detail, understands how supply chains work, and is happy rolling up their sleeves to keep the operation running smoothly every day.

You’ll lead a small team, but you’ll also be actively involved in the hands on work - managing suppliers, raising POs, tracking production schedules, reviewing open orders, managing inventory, solving supply chain issues and ensuring customer deliveries happen on time.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing customer orders from PO acceptance through to delivery.
• Tracking critical production and shipping milestones.
• Running regular operational stand‑ups and open order reviews.
• Raising and approving purchase orders.
• Managing supplier relationships and performance.
• Working closely with offshore manufacturing partners.
• Monitoring inventory, resin allocations and stock performance.
• Completing reconciliations and operational reporting.
• Managing production issues, delays and supply chain risks.
• Ensuring logistics bookings, shipment planning and delivery schedules are executed successfully.
• Monitoring supplier KPIs and service levels.
• Working closely with Product, Quality and Logistics team members to ensure priorities are delivered.
• Leading process improvement initiatives and implementing scalable systems.
• Coaching and developing a small operations team.

About You

You will have experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, procurement or operations environment where you have had to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously.

You are:

• Highly organised and naturally detail oriented.
• Strong at project management and follow through.
• Comfortable managing both people and processes.
• Equally comfortable in spreadsheets, systems and supplier calls.
• Able to identify risks before they become problems.
• Commercially minded and confident making decisions.
• A strong communicator who can build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Experienced working in growing businesses where structure, process and priorities are constantly evolving.
• Happy doing your own administration and operational coordination.
