Job summary

Fonterra Te Mātāpuna is seeking an experienced NZ Payroll Operations Manager to lead a NZ payroll portfolio. You will manage a team of Senior and Payroll Analysts, ensuring accurate pay runs and governance in line with NZ payroll requirements.

This permanent, full-time role is based in Auckland or Hamilton with flexible/hybrid working. You will drive service performance, risk management and continuous improvement across payroll processes.

Qualifications

• Five years’ payroll or HR experience with leadership exposure.
• Proven ability to coach and develop payroll team members.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand payroll and employment legislation.
• Experience with collective and individual employment agreements.
• Proficient in payroll ERP platforms (SAP/SuccessFactors/Kronos/Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations delivery and performance.
• Coach and develop Senior Payroll Analysts and Analysts.
• Ensure accurate pay runs, banking and third-party payments with proper authorisations.
• Identify payroll risks and maintain controls and escalation paths.
• Oversee payroll checks, complex case resolution and remediation payments.
• Manage service levels and stakeholder escalations for a positive payroll experience.
• Make workforce planning and contingency decisions to protect pay run deadlines.
• Collaborate with QA and continuous improvement teams to simplify processes.
