Job summary

New World Point Chevalier is hiring a Part-time Butchery Assistant to join our busy team. You will help prepare meat products, assist customers, and maintain fresh, well-presented displays while following food safety standards.

The role demands practical, hands-on work and the flexibility to work Fridays and Saturdays as listed. We offer a safe, supportive environment with free uniform and opportunities to learn meat preparation skills, packaging, and stock control.

Qualifications

• You must be able to meet physical demands (standing, lifting and handling meat).
• Experience in fresh food or butchery is a plus.
• Current right to work in New Zealand is required.
• Apprenticeship opportunities may be available for the right candidate.

At New World Point Chevalier, we’re passionate about providing a fresh, friendly shopping experience for our community. To keep delivering quality products and great service to our customers, we’re looking for ONE Butchery Assistant to join our busy team. You must have a current right to work in New Zealand.

Friday 2:30pm-9pm & Saturday 12:30pm-9pm

The Role

We’re after a motivated, reliable team player with a positive attitude who enjoys hands‑on work and takes pride in presenting fresh, quality products.

As a Butchery Assistant, you’ll:

• Assist the butchery team with preparing meat products, following training and instructions.
• Pack, wrap, weigh, and label products accurately.
• Keep the butchery cabinets fully stocked, fresh, and well presented.
• Check product quality, dates, and stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
• Assist customers with product enquiries and requests, providing friendly and helpful service.
• Complete temperature checks and maintain food safety and traceability records.
• Follow hygiene, cleaning, and health & safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise equipment, benches, cabinets, and preparation areas.
• Restock trays, packaging, and other department supplies.
• Work collaboratively with your team and assist across the store when needed.
