New World Bishopdale, a Foodstuffs South Island store, is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to lead a skilled team and drive quality, service and profitability in the department.

You'll be hands-on in boning, cutting, merchandising and customer service while coaching staff and ensuring high food safety and presentation standards. Weekend/shift patterns apply in a busy retail environment.

Chop to It - We're Hiring a Butchery Manager at New World Bishopdale!

Are you a skilled butcher and natural leader who knows your way around a boning room, thrives on delivering quality, and takes pride in building a great team? Do you love seeing a cabinet fully stocked and customers leaving with exactly what they came in for? Then it's time to sharpen your knives and take the lead because The Bish is calling!

We're on the hunt for an experienced Butchery Manager to lead our skilled and passionate butchery team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll set the standard, drive performance, and work alongside your team to deliver outstanding quality and service for our customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Leading the Team - Take ownership of the day-to-day running of the department, coach and develop your team, create a positive culture, and ensure everyone is performing at their best.
• Hands-On Butchery - From boning and cutting through to merchandising and customer service, you'll lead from the front and get stuck into whatever needs doing.
• Quality & Standards Champion - Maintain the highest standards of product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and presentation. Every cut, cabinet, and display reflects your attention to detail.
• Fresh Fish & Seafood Management - Take responsibility for the ordering, retailing, presentation, and performance of our fresh fish and seafood offering, ensuring quality, availability, and an appealing display for customers.
• Stock & Commercial Management - Manage ordering, inventory levels, wastage, margins, and sales performance across both the butchery and seafood categories while ensuring the department remains profitable and well-stocked.
• Stocktaking & Reporting - Complete accurate end-of-month stocktakes, monitor results, and use department data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.

Hours - Sunday to Thursday, 6:00am-2:30pm. Enjoy consistent daytime hours with Fridays and Saturdays off.

• Proven Leader - You've successfully led teams before and know how to motivate, coach, and bring the best out of people.
• Customer Focused - You understand that great service and quality products go hand in hand.
• Organised & Detail-Driven - Whether it's managing stock levels, maintaining displays, or completing month-end stocktakes, you know the little things make all the difference.
• Commercially Minded - You understand ordering, stock control, margins, stocktakes, and how to maximise department performance.
• Reliable & Hardworking - You lead by example, roll up your sleeves, and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
