Job summary

Downer is seeking a National Facilities Manager to oversee LINZ sites across New Zealand, driving zero harm outcomes and strong performance. You will lead subcontractors, manage budgets and KPIs, and strengthen client relationships while ensuring safe, high-quality service delivery.

With at least five years in facilities management, you will steer resources, support continuous improvement, and uphold Downer values across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Preferably minimum 5 years' management experience within the facilities industry, or other trade related management experience.
• Strong leadership capability with proven interpersonal skills.
• Effective communicator able to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and data interpretation skills to support evidence-based decision-making.
• Able to cope with change and prioritise work as demands require throughout the working day.
• Computer skills, Microsoft applications, and able to pick up new systems and processes quickly.
• Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen, including cost control and productivity improvement.
• Proven ability to drive operational performance, ensuring quality outcomes, on-time delivery, and minimal rework.
• Excellent time management, organisational skills, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Current knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, intermediate MS Office skills, and willingness to travel with a full driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Embed and promote a Zero Harm culture across all portfolio sites with strong team engagement.
• Provide clear leadership to subcontractors and partners, including Downer Direct (Contact Centre).
• Manage portfolio performance, delivering financial targets, KPIs, and cost-control outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships with consistently positive interactions.
• Oversee contractor allocation, management and work scheduling from quote assessment to completion.
• Identify, manage and escalate business risks as required.
• Ensure sites deliver work safely, cost-effectively, with quality and in line with KPIs and compliance (BWOF/HSNO).
• Take ownership of Priority 1 (P1) and emergency events, including after-hours on-call support.
• Drive resourcing, subcontractor engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
