Job summary

SkyCity in New Zealand is seeking a creative Motion Designer to turn bold ideas into captivating visuals across social, digital, events and brand campaigns. You’ll craft motion graphics, animations, and video content for a high-profile entertainment brand.

Reporting to the Head of Brand & Creative, you’ll collaborate with designers, marketers and producers, manage multiple projects, build templates, and stay ahead of industry trends with strong storytelling and technical skills in After Effects,

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a Motion Designer, Animator, or Motion Graphics Artist in an agency, production, or in-house environment.
• Strong showreel demonstrating 2D animation, motion graphics, and design craft.
• Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills, particularly After Effects and Premiere Pro.
• Strong typography, composition, colour, and brand application skills.
• Excellent understanding of animation principles, timing, and storytelling.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail.
• Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, Adobe Animate, or other 3D animation tools.
• Character animation, storyboarding, or 3D motion design experience.
• Experience producing content for large-format LED screens, DOOH, or entertainment environments.
• Passion for entertainment, hospitality, gaming, and delivering unforgettable customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Creating motion graphics, animations, and video content across social, digital, web, EDM, broadcast, cinema, and large-format screens.
• Developing concepts, storyboards, style frames, and animatics to bring creative ideas to life.
• Editing video content, including audio, colour correction, and final delivery.
• Producing accurate, high-quality artwork and motion assets that align with brand standards.
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and production requirements.
• Building motion templates, toolkits, and best-practice resources that support wider studio capability.
• Staying ahead of industry trends and bringing fresh ideas, techniques, and innovation into your work.

We're looking for a creative and technically skilled Motion Designer to join our Brand & Creative team. This is a newly created opportunity to help shape how one of New Zealand's most recognised entertainment brands connects with its audiences through compelling motion, animation, and digital content.

Reporting to the Head of Brand & Creative, you'll bring the SkyCity brand to life through engaging motion graphics, animation, and video content across a range of customer touchpoints. You'll collaborate closely with designers, marketers, content producers, and stakeholders to create standout creative that supports campaigns, social media, digital channels, events, and brand initiatives.

This role combines creative thinking, storytelling, and technical expertise to deliver high-quality content that drives customer engagement and enhances the overall brand experience

You'll be a passionate creative with a strong eye for design, storytelling, and animation.

• 5+ years' experience as a Motion Designer, Animator, or Motion Graphics Artist in an agency, production, or in-house creative environment.
• A qualification in Motion Design, Animation, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
• An impressive showreel demonstrating strong 2D animation, motion graphics, and design craft.
