SkyCity Entertainment Group in Auckland is seeking a talented Motion Designer to turn ideas into captivating visual stories. You will join our Brand & Creative team to bring the SkyCity brand to life through motion graphics, animation, and video across social, digital, events, and campaigns.

You will collaborate with designers, marketers, and producers, develop concepts, storyboards, and animatics, and deliver high‑quality content on tight deadlines while staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Motion Design/animation.
• Showreel demonstrating strong 2D animation and design craft.
• Advanced After Effects and Premiere Pro skills.
• Strong typography, composition, colour, and brand application.

Responsibilities

• Create motion graphics, animations, and video content across social, digital, web, EDM, broadcast, cinema, and large-format screens.
• Develop concepts, storyboards, style frames, and animatics to bring ideas to life.
• Edit video content, including audio, colour correction, and final delivery.
• Produce accurate, high-quality artwork and motion assets that align with brand standards.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and production requirements.
• Build motion templates, toolkits, and best-practice resources for the studio.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and bring fresh ideas to your work.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We're looking for a creative and technically skilled Motion Designer to join our Brand & Creative team. This is a newly created opportunity to help shape how one of New Zealand's most recognised entertainment brands connects with its audiences through compelling motion, animation, and digital content.

Reporting to the Head of Brand & Creative, you'll bring the SkyCity brand to life through engaging motion graphics, animation, and video content across a range of customer touchpoints. You'll collaborate closely with designers, marketers, content producers, and stakeholders to create standout creative that supports campaigns, social media, digital channels, events, and brand initiatives.

This role combines creative thinking, storytelling, and technical expertise to deliver high-quality content that drives customer engagement and enhances the overall brand experience

• Creating motion graphics, animations, and video content across social, digital, web, EDM, broadcast, cinema, and large-format screens.
• Developing concepts, storyboards, style frames, and animatics to bring creative ideas to life.
• Editing video content, including audio, colour correction, and final delivery.
• Producing accurate, high-quality artwork and motion assets that align with brand standards.

• Staying ahead of industry trends and bringing fresh ideas, techniques, and innovation into your work.

Mōu | About You

You'll be a passionate creative with a strong eye for design, storytelling, and animation.

• 5+ years' experience as a Motion Designer, Animator, or Motion Graphics Artist in an agency, production, or in-house creative environment.
• A qualification in Motion Design, Animation, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
• An impressive showreel demonstrating strong 2D animation, motion graphics, and design craft.
• Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud skills, particularly After Effects and Premiere Pro.
• Strong typography, composition, colour, and brand application skills.
• Excellent understanding of animation principles, timing, and storytelling.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, Adobe Animate, or other 3D animation tools.
• Character animation, storyboarding, or 3D motion design experience.
• Experience producing content for large-format LED screens, digital out-of-home, or entertainment environments.
• A passion for entertainment, hospitality, gaming, and delivering unforgettable customer experiences.
