Job summary

V2 Mobile Repairs in Oamaru, Otago, is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile phones and tablets in a fast-paced field environment. The role offers a guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week and a pay rate of NZD 32–38 per hour based on skills and experience.

You will diagnose faults, repair components, perform firmware updates, and provide professional customer support while ensuring high-quality service and preventative device care.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant work experience or a Level 5 IT qualification.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with delicate electronic components.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose hardware and software faults on mobile devices.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues.
• Test devices to determine root causes.
• Repair or replace components such as screens, batteries, ports, and speakers.
• Disassemble and reassemble devices carefully.
• Perform advanced hardware repairs on boards and connectors.
• Explain repair processes and costs to customers.
• Provide maintenance advice to customers.
