This hands-on role covers overseeing the full unit from operations and inventory to customer service and team leadership, ensuring health and safety standards are met and service remains top quality.

You will manage daily operations, supervise a small catering team, handle stock, cash, and POS, and develop strategies to maximise sales while maintaining excellent guest experiences.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, an innovative provider of mobile catering solutions, is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Mobile Catering Unit Manager for operations in and around Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This hands‑on role involves overseeing the complete management of a mobile catering unit, from operational efficiency and inventory control to customer service and team leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring the unit runs smoothly, adheres to all health and safety standards, and delivers exceptional food and service at various locations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem‑solver with experience in food service management and a passion for delivering quality on the go. This is a key role for driving our client's presence in the Queenstown, Eastern Cape area.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the mobile catering unit, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
• Oversee food preparation, service, and customer interactions.
• Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations in a mobile environment.
• Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, stock control, and minimizing waste.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food service management, preferably with experience in mobile catering, food trucks, or similar fast‑paced environments.
• Proven experience in inventory management, cost control, and team leadership.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, particularly in mobile settings.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage operations independently and make sound decisions.
• Must be adaptable and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for minor unit maintenance is an advantage.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in business or hospitality is a plus.
• Proficiency in English.
