Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking 3 skilled Metal Fabricators/Welders in the Canterbury region. Permanent roles with a 30-hour week, Monday to Friday 8am–5pm, offering $30–$35 per hour and a competitive remuneration package.

Ideal candidates will have arc welding experience, the ability to read engineering drawings, and be able to install heavy and mild steel off-site. Join a recognised kiwi company and advance your career in metal fabrication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of verifiable experience in metal fabrication or welding.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensions.
• Experience welding mild steel in various positions.
• Willingness to perform off-site installation of heavy and mild steel.

Responsibilities

• Studying blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Select metal stock and prepare it for fabrication.
• Cut and shape metal sections using hand tools and cutting torches.
• Shape and bend metal using hand tools and machines; heat and hammering where needed.
• Join metal sections using welding techniques, bolts, and rivets.
• Inspect welds for bead width, penetration and precision.
• Finish products by cleaning and polishing welded surfaces.

Due to the continual growth in this market, our client – a New Zealand owned and operated manufacturing and maintenance service provider – is looking for 3 Metal Fabricators/Welders to join their growing team.

The roles will be based in the Canterbury region and is an excellent opportunity to progress and develop your career in the Metal Fabrication industry.

To be successful for this role, you need to have the following skills and 2 years’ verifiable work experience:

• Perform arc &migmild steel welding in aworkshopenvironment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensions
• Work off site to install heavy and mild Steel
• Fabricate and repair metal products using a variety of welding techniques
• Create a variety of mild steel products in vertical ups, horizontal and overhead styles of welding

In addition to the above, the right candidate must be able to perform the following tasks:

• Studying blueprints,drawingsand specifications todeterminejob requirements
• Selecting,cleaningand preparing metal stock
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques,boltingand riveting
• Examining welds for width of bead,penetrationand precision
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing,filingand bathing in acidic solutions
• Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing,chisellingand grinding
