Job summary

Skookum Technology seeks an experienced Mechanical Fitter with fabrication and welding experience. You will work across our workshop and customer sites to manufacture, assemble, install, maintain and fault-diagnose mechanical equipment. This role offers diverse engineering challenges and requires a proactive, detail-focused team player.

You will be involved in across-site projects, with safety-conscious practices and opportunities to develop your skills in a supportive environment.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter with Fabrication and welding experience, to join our growing team. You will work across our workshop and sites to manufacture and assemble equipment as well as be involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, fabrication, and fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment across a range of customer sites. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys problem-solving and diverse engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment


• Fabrication and welding work


• Fitting and assembly of equipment


• Fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment


• Work across multiple customer sites and within a variety of industries


• Problem-solving and identifying improvements to equipment

About you

• Strong Mechanical fitting experience


• Welding and fabrication skills


• Diagnostic and fault-finding experience on mechanical equipment


• Bulk materials handling experience


• Strong mechanical Knowledge and Practical problem-solving ability


• A naturally curious and inquisitive approach to understanding how equipment operates


• The ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment


• A commitment to producing work of a consistently high standard with excellent attention to detail


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Full New Zealand driver's license


• Willingness and ability to comply with site drug and alcohol testing requirements.
