Job summary

Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown is seeking a Market Garden Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in an established organic market garden while supporting seasonal produce for our restaurants.

You will work with the Organic Market Gardener and resort teams, learning soil and pest management, planting, harvesting, and delivery duties in a beautiful 650-acre estate.

Qualifications

• 1) Genuine passion for organic horticulture and commitment to a career in the industry.
• 2) Practical horticulture/home gardening/orchard maintenance experience is advantageous.
• 3) Interest in environmental sustainability and organic growing practices.
• 4) Eagerness to learn, take direction and develop knowledge.
• 5) Confident communicator with a positive, can-do attitude.
• 6) Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• 7) Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• 8) Physically fit for manual tasks.
• 9) Horticulture qualification is advantageous.
• 10) NZ work visa required.
• 11) Clean NZ driver license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with preparation, planting, cultivation and harvesting of seasonal organic produce.
• Supporting maintenance and development of the Market Garden, orchard and surrounding growing areas.
• Learning and applying organic horticulture practices, including soil and pest management and sustainable growing techniques.
• Assisting with produce delivery, record keeping and general garden tasks.
• Maintaining high standards of presentation, health and safety, and environmental sustainability.
• Collaborating with the Organic Market Gardener and resort teams to support Market Garden operations.

Whatwill your day look like?

• Working closely with the OrganicMarket Gardener and wider resort teams to support the success of the MarketGarden operation

• Previous practical experience inhorticulture, home gardening or orchard maintenance would be advantageous

• You can work independently usingyour initiative while also contributing effectively as part of a team

• You are physically fit andcapable of carrying out manual handling duties
• A relevant horticulturequalification is advantageous
• A valid NZ work visa is required
• Full clean NZ Drivers Licencedesirable.

Location: Arrowtown,Queenstown

Payrate: $27.00 - $30.00gross per hour based on experience

Hours: Full timepermanent (30/40 hours per week guaranteed including over the winter period)
