Job summary

Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown, NZ, invites applications for a Market Garden Apprentice. This fixed-term role offers hands-on experience in an established organic market garden, from planning and planting to harvesting and maintenance, in collaboration with Millbrook’s chefs.

You will develop practical horticulture knowledge, learn soil and pest management, and contribute to seasonal produce for our restaurants.

Qualifications

• Passion for organic horticulture and desire to build a career in the industry.
• Previous practical experience in horticulture or gardening is advantageous.
• Interest in environmental sustainability and organic growing.
• Willingness to learn and take direction.
• Confident communicator with a can-do attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Physically fit with ability to perform manual handling.
• NZ work visa is required.
• Driver's Licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, planting, cultivation and harvesting of seasonal organic produce.
• Support maintenance and development of the Market Garden, orchard and surrounding growing areas.
• Learn and apply organic horticulture practices, including soil management, pest management and sustainable growing techniques.
• Assist with produce delivery, record keeping and general operational tasks within the garden.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, health and safety, and environmental sustainability.
• Work closely with the Organic Market Gardener and wider resort teams to support the success of the Market Garden operation.

Whatwill your day look like?

Location: Arrowtown,Queenstown

Payrate: $27.00 - $30.00gross per hour based on experience

Hours: Full timepermanent (30/40 hours per week guaranteed including over the winter period)
