Job summary

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency in Palmerston North is seeking a Manager Revenue and Refunds to lead the team responsible for the collection, reconciliation, and refunding of NZTA revenue streams. You will ensure the integrity and efficiency of our revenue systems and processes, contributing to the financial health of one of New Zealand’s largest public sector organisations.

Lead one of the largest revenue portfolios in the public sector (~$5.3b annually) Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in revenue and refund processes Join a high-performing, values-driven team making a real impact for Aotearoa. Fixed term or secondment opportunity for two years based in Palmerston North.

We’re looking for a Manager Revenue and Refunds to lead the team responsible for the collection, reconciliation, and refunding of NZTA revenue streams. In this role, you’ll ensure the integrity and efficiency of our revenue systems and processes, contributing to the financial health of one of New Zealand’s largest public sector organisations.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience leading financial processing teams in high-volume environments
• Expertise in public sector accounting and revenue management
• Strong knowledge of financial systems and internal controls
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A collaborative, improvement-focused mindset
• Tertiary qualification (preferably postgraduate) in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience

Outcome-focused leadership

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it applies in the public service.

Our purpose is to provide sound commercial and financial services that enable NZTA to deliver on its strategic objectives. The Revenue & Refunds team ensures robust and efficient revenue collection processes are in place to support this.
