Job summary

Gibbston Valley Wines in Otago is seeking a vibrant Restaurant Host for seasonal full-time work. The role requires a minimum of 30 hours per week, including weekends and public holidays, and you will be the heartbeat of our dining room, greeting guests with warmth and guiding them to tables.

Based in Gibbston, the position pays NZ$25.00–NZ$27.00 per hour, with staff discounts, on-site parking, uniforms, and meals on duty.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a busy dining room.

Responsibilities

• Greet arriving and departing guests promptly with high energy.
• Escort guests to tables and deliver personalised service to regulars and special-occasion diners.
• Coordinate table availability, walk-ins and reservations efficiently.
• Manage floor rotation and station balance to support smooth service flow.
• Communicate guest preferences and dietary requirements to floor and kitchen teams.
• Handle incoming calls and reservation inquiries professionally.
• Maintain host stand and surrounding areas to impeccable cleanliness.
