Jora New Zealand is seeking a Transport Planner at our Auckland Head Office to plan and dispatch daily truck movements, coordinating trucks to timber mills and deliveries to farms and end users. You will monitor fleet performance, respond to operational challenges, and keep customers informed about product availability and delivery timing.

Based at our Auckland Head Office, you will plan and dispatch daily truck movements for trucks based mostly in Tirau. This includes coordinating trucks into timber mills for product collection and scheduling deliveries to farms and other end user sites. You will monitor fleet performance, respond quickly to operational challenges, and maintain regular communication with customers about product availability, supply timing, delivery scheduling, and any changes that may affect service. You will play a key role in ensuring our transport operations run smoothly, and our customers receive exceptional service from order through to delivery.
Key responsibilities
Plan, schedule, and dispatch trucks efficiently to meet customer product supply and delivery requirements.
Dispatch trucks into timber mills to collect product, coordinating pick-up times, loading requirements, and any mill-specific instructions.
Monitor vehicle movements and provide real-time support to drivers.
Optimise routes and fleet utilisation to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
Communicate with customers regarding product availability, supply timing, delivery schedules to farm, and service updates.
Coordinate with drivers, mills, customers, and operational teams to ensure seamless collection, supply, and delivery service.
Manage and update transport management systems, mill collection details, dispatch records, and customer delivery information.
Respond to delays, disruptions, and changing operational priorities.
Ensure compliance with transport regulations, company policies, and health and safety requirements.
Assist with load planning, resource allocation, and daily operational reporting.
About you
Previous experience in a transport, logistics, dispatch, or fleet coordination role.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
The ability to work alone and effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm approach under pressure.
Good computer skills and experience with transport management systems (preferred).
A customer-focused attitude and commitment to operational excellence.
Knowledge of New Zealand transport operations and regulations would be advantageous.
