Job summary

The University of Waikato Library Services team is seeking motivated individuals to help organise and improve access to library collections and resources. You will gain practical, hands-on experience, with flexible hours between 8.30am and 5.00pm on weekdays.

These fixed-term roles run from late October to Friday 18 December 2026 to support Te Manawa collections work. Salary is $52,687 per annum pro-rata, depending on skills and experience; candidates must provide available hours and commit to

Qualifications

• You are reliable, punctual, and able to maintain your commitment to the role throughout the fixed term period.
• Strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and good organisational skills are important.
• You’ll also need to be physically capable of safely lifting and moving materials.
• Reliability and the confidence to work independently will help you thrive in this role.
• Current study at the University of Waikato would be highly desirable, as it may help you quickly become familiar with the library, its spaces and resources.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing and organising library materials to keep the collection current and accessible.
• Support the Collections, Strategy and Access Team in collection management activities.
• Identify items needing attention and help with shelving and maintaining an orderly environment.
• Follow Library Services guidelines to maintain a welcoming space for users.
