In this customer service focussed role, you will be contributing to the day-to-day running of Remuera Library. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a high achieving team whilst making our customers feel welcome and supported. Remuera Library is a hub of the local community, and you will be working closely with our local customers through a range of programmes, from children's activities to supporting and/or delivering exciting programmes and events.

We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for serving our community, making our customers feel welcome and enjoys providing wonderful customer service.

Remuera library is open seven days a week, so this position includes regular weekend shifts. The ability to work weekends is essential.

This is a permanent, part‑time position working 18 hours per week as follows:

Thursday (10am to 7pm), Saturday (9am to 4pm) and Sunday (12noon to 4pm).

While this role is currently based at Remuera Library, some flexibility may be required to support library services across the Ōrākei Local Board.

As a Library and Council Services Assistant, you help people access information, council services, learning opportunities, and inclusive public spaces.
This role contributes to creating welcoming environments where people of all backgrounds feel safe, supported and connected to their community.

  • Evidence of working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds
  • Comfortable with technology and able to support customers to successfully use information resources and devices
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Willing to work with the greater library team in the delivery of programmes and events
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to your work
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Salary: ($67,414 - $79,310) dependant on experience.
