Job summary

Russell McVeagh is seeking a lawyer with 2+ years' experience who is excited about applying AI to transform how legal services are delivered in New Zealand. You will work closely with our lawyers to translate legal needs into AI-powered solutions and practical workflows.

You don't need to be a software engineer; the emphasis is on your interest in AI, adaptability and ability to implement technology-driven improvements within legal practice.

Qualifications

2+ years' experience as a lawyer with a solid legal practice background.
Demonstrated interest in AI, with hands-on use in current role.
Ability to translate legal and business needs into practical solutions.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, build and optimise AI powered tools, including prompts and workflows.
Partner with lawyers to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and outcomes.
Design, test and optimise tools including prompt libraries and knowledge solutions.
Support AI transformation initiatives and responsible AI adoption.
Deliver training and guidance to help teams embrace new technologies.
Monitor emerging legal tech and AI developments for the firm.
