Job summary

Halter is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Platform team to set the direction for building, running, and evolving the systems that power our global operations. You will shape cloud infrastructure, security, and AI-assisted engineering across backend, embedded, ML, and data groups.

Day-to-day, you will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and own end-to-end problems—from AI tooling adoption to secure, observable, and reliable platform layers that accelerate product velocity for farmers

Qualifications

• You have deep experience building and operating AWS at scale.
• You've led platform or infrastructure work in a high-growth environment.
• Backend product development experience is a plus.
• You understand what good developer experience looks like and have built golden paths or internal platforms.
• You treat security as a first-class part of platform engineering.
• You're excited about AI tooling and its potential to increase impact while managing risk.

Responsibilities

• Drive how Halter leverages AI tooling to accelerate development and create scalable adoption patterns.
• Build tooling, guardrails, and golden paths to enable engineers to ship safely and quickly.
• Set the technical direction for our cloud infrastructure as Halter scales globally.
• Bake security into the platform with IAM, network policy, secrets management, and supply chain safeguards.
• Keep core compute and orchestration reliable at scale for farmers and ranchers.
• Advance observability and incident tooling; treat on-call as a signal for proactive resolution.
• Automate infrastructure management via IaC, CI/CD, and internal tooling to reduce operational load.
• Lead cross-functional architecture discussions and evolve platform practices and standards.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and knowledge sharing; participate in on-call rotation.
