About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and energetic Kitchen Porter (also known as a Steward) to join the kitchen team of a bustling restaurant in Queenstown . This is a vital role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment and utensils are clean and readily available for the chefs. The successful candidate will be essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, working behind the scenes to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and organization. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are key attributes for this position in a demanding culinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash and properly store all dishes, cookware, utensils, and equipment used in the kitchen.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, kitchen floors, surfaces, and storage areas.
• Dispose of kitchen waste and recycling according to established procedures.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables or cleaning produce, as directed by chefs.
• Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Steward, or in a similar cleaning role is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards of cleanliness in a fast-paced environment.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
