Job summary

Accor is seeking a dedicated kitchen cleaner to join our hotel team in Queenstown. You will ensure a spotless, hygienic space and pristine crockery to meet high-end standards. Experience is helpful, but a can-do spirit and teamwork are valued.

You will handle cleaning duties, assist with basic food prep, and report hazards to the Executive Chef. The role is physical, requires lifting, and shifts include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize and store cutlery, crockery, and kitchenware.
• Maintain walls, floors and general kitchen spaces per schedule.
• Clean food storage areas and report hazards to the Executive Chef.
• Remove rubbish and maintain waste areas daily.
• Assist with basic food preparation and liaise with the chef on duty.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and report faults.

Job Description

Join our passionate kitchen team as the heartbeat behind our chefs’ culinary magic! Be the essential force ensuring a spotless, hygienic space and pristine crockery that match our high-end standards. While kitchen experience is a plus, we value your can-do spirit, ability to thrive under pressure, and teamwork. If you’re organized, a multitasker, and passionate about top-tier cleanliness in line with NZ food safety, this exciting role is yours!

Cleaning, sanitation and storage of all cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment and appliances, using wither industrial washing machines or hand washing as appropriate.

Cleaning of walls, floors and general kitchen work spaces, working to cleaning schedule as prescribed for the area.

Cleaning of food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed; report any hazards or problems to Executive Chef.

Remove rubbish regularrily, ensure that kitchen and waste areas are free of refuse. Clean industrial bins on a daily basis.

General maintenance and cleaning of the loading dock.

Cleaning of the cutlery, plates, sink area and buffet of the employee restaurant.

Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained in effective working order, report any faults or repairs required to the Executive Chef.

Assist and liaise with chef on duty with basic food preparation; grating, peeling, chopping, preparing batters, garnishes and seasonings.

Any other reasonable request assigned by your manager

• This role is physical - you will be on your feet and lifting items so being comfortable with this is imperative
• You will need a strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
• You canwork well as part of a team in a fast paced environment, with effective time management skills
• Previous experience in a similar role / hotel environment is advantageous
• The ability and flexibility to work various rostered shifts, including early morning, late evenings and weekends.
• You will need to hold working rights forNew Zealand
