Job summary

The Rees Hotel Queenstown and True South restaurant are seeking a Kitchen Porter to support our Kitchen Team. You will help keep the kitchen spotless and assist chefs with basic food preparation.

This role includes receiving deliveries, managing stock with FIFO, and maintaining clean storerooms while following food safety and health & safety procedures. Availability for varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, is essential.

Qualifications

• Prior relevant kitchen experience.
• Understanding of food safety and impeccable hygiene practices.
• Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment and maintain accuracy.
• Reliable, punctual and a true team player with good communication.

• Cleaning kitchen equipment, benches and food preparation areas to the highest hygiene standards
• Assisting our chefs with basic food preparation
• Receiving deliveries, completing stock checks and rotating stock (FIFO)
• Keeping storerooms clean and organised
• Following all food safety and health and safety procedures

Skills, experience and attributes:

• Prior relevant kitchen experience
• Understanding of food safety and impeccable hygiene practices
• Accuracy and an “eye for detail”
• Hard working and keen to learn
• Passionate about customer service
• Effective communication skills and a true team player
• Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment
• Reliable and punctual
• Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays
