The HR Company is seeking a Manufacturing Inventory Specialist in Auckland to own end-to-end visibility of material and product movements across receiving, production, WIP, warehousing and dispatch at multi-site operations in New Zealand.
You will produce the daily mass balance, investigate variances, and report outcomes, while mapping gaps between physical stock and system records and driving corrective actions with relevant teams.
Design, build and be responsible for end-to-end visibility of material and product movements across raw material receiving, production, WIP, finished goods warehouse and dispatch. Produce and be responsible for the daily mass balance: calculate raw materials used against finished goods produced, investigate and resolve variances, and report the outcome each operating day. Identify gaps between physical stock movement and system records at each stage of the value chain, and ensure transactions are captured accurately and on time. Build and maintain dashboards and reports (ERP/MES plus Excel/BI tools) tracking material flow, production yield, WIP levels, stock accuracy and dispatch performance. Investigate variances (raw material usage against BOM, WIP discrepancies, finished goods count differences), establish root cause, and drive corrective action with the relevant teams. Map and critically review the processes behind movement recording and the daily mass balance, and redesign them to reduce the effort required to run them. Remove duplicate capture, manual re-keying and off-system workarounds by simplifying and automating data capture and reporting wherever practical. Improve the accuracy of data at source, so that the system reflects the floor without downstream correction. Standardise and document data capture procedures (SOPs) at each stage, and align data capturers across the supply chain on correct system use. Baseline and then measure the effort (time and manual handling) and the accuracy of each process before and after change, so that improvement is demonstrable rather than assumed. Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and stock takes across raw materials, WIP and finished goods, across all sites. Use the visibility platform to identify bottlenecks, waste and process breakdowns, and support continuous improvement projects across the value chain.
BEng/BTech/BSc in Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field. Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing, FMCG or food production environment. Working knowledge of ERP/MES systems and production/stock reporting (Syspro experience not required). Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning); exposure to Power BI or similar BI tools advantageous. Understanding of end-to-end production and supply chain processes: receiving, production, WIP, warehousing and dispatch. Working knowledge of mass balance / yield reconciliation principles in a manufacturing environment. Valid driver's licence and own transport, given multi-site travel requirements.
