Job summary

Plumbing World Wellington is seeking an Inwards Goods & Inventory Assistant to manage stock receipt, storage, and accuracy in a busy branch.

You will work across inventory control, warehouse operations and branch support, coordinating with suppliers and colleagues to keep the branch running smoothly. A full-time position with hours Monday–Friday, with rostered Saturdays, and opportunities for development are on offer.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in inventory control, warehousing, logistics, or stock administration.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Good computer literacy and confidence using inventory or business systems.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to work.
• Sound experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Trade, plumbing, building, manufacturing, or distribution industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Inventory & Stock Control: Receive, check, process stock; ensure accurate receipts and locations; investigate discrepancies; cycle counts; maintain records.
• Warehouse Operations: Unload deliveries; pick/pack; dispatch stock; maintain clean, safe warehouse; ensure safe handling.
• Branch Support: Liaise with Branch Manager; report stock issues; build supplier relationships; support safety and teamwork.

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Inwards Goods & Inventory Assistant to join our Plumbing World Wellington team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a blend of warehouse operations, inventory control, and working closely with colleagues to ensure our branch runs smoothly every day.

As a key member of the team, you'll play an important role in maintaining inventory accuracy, managing stock movements, supporting warehouse operations, and helping ensure our customers receive the products they need, when they need them.

What your day will look like

Inventory & Stock Control:

• Receive, check, and process incoming stock accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure inventory is receipted correctly and allocated to the appropriate locations.
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, damaged goods, and inventory variances.
• Complete regular cycle counts and assist with stocktake activities.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and stock locations.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with replenishment requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers, freight providers, and our Distribution Centre regarding stock-related enquiries.
• Support inventory reporting and administration activities.

Warehouse Operations

• Unload deliveries and safely store products within the warehouse.
• Pick, pack, and prepare customer and branch transfer orders.
• Assist with dispatching stock and coordinating outbound freight.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient warehouse environment.
• Ensure all stock is handled safely and in accordance with procedures.
• Support the wider branch team with day-to-day operational activities.

Branch Support

• Work closely with the Branch Manager and wider team to ensure inventory processes run smoothly.
• Communicate stock issues, shortages, and replenishment requirements promptly.
• Build positive working relationships with suppliers, freight providers, and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and collaborative working environment.
• Uphold Plumbing World's commitment to Health & Safety standards at all times.

This is a permanent full-time position working between 40-42.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with rostered Saturdays.

Specific hours will be discussed during the interview process.
