Job summary

Holmes Aus & Nz is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our established geotechnical and foundations team. The role centers on major infrastructure projects, with collaboration alongside civil structural engineers to deliver efficient, sustainable outcomes across New Zealand.

We require 5+ years in geotechnical design and seismic engineering, plus a proactive, client‑facing approach.

Intermediate - Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We're looking for a talented, passionate geotechnical engineers to join our well established and highly regarded geotechnical and foundations team and contribute to some of the most exciting & challenging projects! The role will focus on significant infrastructure projects, where close collaboration with our civil structural engineers will enable remarkably efficient and sustainable outcomes for our clients across the country.

Geotechnical engineering at Holmes means being creative, establishing new ways of developing foundation design and challenging current practise. We aim to be at the forefront of new developments in the geotechnical sector. Our team work on foundation design, award winning bridges, local ports and large reservoirs. Our tasks cover a vast variety of geotechnical disciplines from soft ground engineering to rock mechanics. We select the projects for in house geotechnical engineering when we feel that innovative alternative geotechnical solutions would add value to the project. Due to growth and a healthy pipeline of projects, we're looking for talented, passionate engineers to join our team. These roles can be based in either Wellington or Auckland – preference for more senior engineers in Auckland.

To be considered for this role, we’re ideally looking for:

• At least 5 years geotechnical design experience.
