Job summary

Holmes Consulting in Auckland seeks an Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer to contribute to a broad portfolio of civil infrastructure projects across New Zealand. You will be involved in technical design, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring project success across local and national sites.

You will mentor junior engineers, lead design tasks, and collaborate with a high-performing team that values innovation, quality, and strong client relationships while working on diverse projects throughout

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 5+ years’ experience.
• Strong experience across infrastructure design, including pipe networks and pump systems.
• NZ regulatory environment knowledge; Design and Construct Tender experience is advantageous.

About the role | Mō te Tūranga

Working on projects locally and across NZ, you’ll be part of a close-knit team delivering a diverse and challenging civil engineering portfolio. We work on a range of different infrastructure projects, all varying in size and complexity. You’ll have an opportunity to bring new ideas, innovation and thinking to the table. This role will see you involved in technical design along with developing and maintaining positive and productive client relationships. Using your stakeholder management skills to engage your clients, project partners and your own project team, you’ll also support with day-to-day technical leadership, along with coaching and mentoring our junior engineers to improve their skills and deliver excellence.

About You | Mōu

Experience working within the field of civil engineering, ideally with 5 plus years of experience along with a relevant bachelor’s qualification or higher in civil engineering.

• You’ll have strong experience across a wide variety of infrastructure design aspects, and experience in pipe networks, pressure pipes and pump systems.
• We’re ideally looking for someone with a civil/mechanical background, with experience in reservoirs, and treatment plants.
• You’ll be a technically astute engineer, ideally with relevant experience in the NZ regulatory environment.
• Experience in Design and Construct Tender processes is preferred.
• With project lead and relationship building capabilities, your experience will span from proposals through to project delivery.
• Your excellent technical skills will be matched by your ability to build meaningful client relationships and you’ll be a confident communicator with the willingness to help out at every level.
• Strong experience in Civil3D/AutoCAD.
• You’ll also have excellent communication skills and be creative and solutions focused.
