Job summary

Brownie Construction in Queenstown is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with proven New Zealand construction experience to work across projects currently underway and those coming through the pipeline.

You’ll work alongside project and site teams to help manage the commercial performance of both commercial and residential builds from construction through to completion. This is a long-term opportunity with a well-established Queenstown construction business offering stability and variety.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the New Zealand construction market.
• Experience across commercial and/or residential construction projects.
• Good understanding of construction contracts and cost control processes.
• Confidence managing variations, claims and project cost reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to project work.

Responsibilities

• Managing variations and tracking project cost movements.
• Preparing progress claims and monthly cost reports.
• Reviewing subcontractor claims and preparing payment schedules.
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package coordination.
• Supporting forecasting and wider commercial reporting.
• Monitoring scope changes and identifying cost implications.
• Working with NZ construction contracts, including NZS 3910, 3916 and 3917.

Brownie Construction has a strong pipeline of commercial and residential projects across the Queenstown region and is continuing to grow its commercial team.

They are now seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with proven New Zealand construction experience to work across projects currently underway and those coming through the pipeline.

This role will suit a QS who is confident managing variations, cost reporting, subcontractor claims and the day-to-day commercial requirements of active construction projects.

The role

You’ll work alongside project and site teams to help manage the commercial performance of both commercial and residential builds from construction through to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing variations and tracking project cost movements
• Preparing progress claims and monthly cost reports
• Reviewing subcontractor claims and preparing payment schedules
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package coordination
• Supporting forecasting and wider commercial reporting
• Monitoring scope changes and identifying cost implications

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the New Zealand construction market
• Experience across commercial and/or residential construction projects
• Good understanding of construction contracts and cost control processes
• Confidence managing variations, claims and project cost reporting
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to project work
• Solid Excel capability and confidence working with commercial data
• Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors and consultants
