Lead commercial delivery across multiple Queenstown projects while supporting the QS team within an established commercial contractor.

An established commercial contractor is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Queenstown team and take a leading role across the commercial delivery of its projects.

This is a broader position than taking one project from start to finish. You’ll have commercial oversight across multiple projects, while also providing guidance and support to Intermediate Quantity Surveyors managing their own workloads.

The Role

You’ll work closely with project and site teams to maintain strong commercial performance throughout the full project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking commercial ownership across multiple projects
• Managing budgets, forecasting, cost reporting and project financial performance
• Overseeing procurement, subcontractor packages, claims and variations
• Managing contractual and commercial risk throughout delivery
• Supporting and providing commercial oversight to Intermediate Quantity Surveyors
• Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams

You’ll have the autonomy expected at Senior level, while playing an important role in maintaining consistency and commercial discipline across the wider project portfolio.

About You

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong Senior Quantity Surveying experience within NZ commercial construction
• A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification
• Proven experience commercially managing projects from procurement through to final handover
• Strong knowledge of contracts, financial reporting, forecasting and risk management
• The ability to manage competing commercial priorities across multiple projects
• A collaborative approach to mentoring and supporting less experienced Quantity Surveyors

Rather than being tied solely to the commercial delivery of one project, you’ll have visibility across multiple projects, support the development of the Intermediate team and have genuine input into wider commercial performance.
