Job summary

Brownie Construction is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor for Queenstown with proven New Zealand construction experience. You will work with project and site teams to manage commercial performance from construction through to completion on both commercial and residential builds.

The role involves managing variations, cost reporting, subcontractor claims and procurement, with a focus on accurate forecasting and strong cost control.

Qualifications

  • Proven NZ construction experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • Experience across commercial and/or residential construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of contracts and cost control processes.
  • Confidently manage variations, claims and cost reporting.
  • Attention to detail and organized project approach.

Responsibilities

  • Managing variations and tracking project cost movements.
  • Preparing progress claims and monthly cost reports.
  • Reviewing subcontractor claims and preparing payment schedules.
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package coordination.
  • Supporting forecasting and wider commercial reporting.
  • Monitoring scope changes and cost implications.
  • Working with NZ construction contracts (NZS 3910/3916/3917).

Intermediate Quantity Surveyor – Queenstown

Brownie Construction has a strong pipeline of commercial and residential projects across the Queenstown region and is continuing to grow its commercial team.


They are now seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with proven New Zealand construction experience to work across projects currently underway and those coming through the pipeline.


This role will suit a QS who is confident managing variations, cost reporting, subcontractor claims and the day-to-day commercial requirements of active construction projects.


The role

You’ll work alongside project and site teams to help manage the commercial performance of both commercial and residential builds from construction through to completion.


Key responsibilities


  • Managing variations and tracking project cost movements

  • Reviewing subcontractor claims and preparing payment schedules

  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package coordination

What we’re looking for


  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the New Zealand construction market

  • Experience across commercial and/or residential construction projects

  • Good understanding of construction contracts and cost control processes

  • Confidence managing variations, claims and project cost reporting

  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to project work

  • Solid Excel capability and confidence working with commercial data

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors and consultants
