New World Centre City is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle in our fast-paced Dunedin supermarket. You will drive recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee engagement, compliance and workplace culture, partnering with Store Owners and Managers to attract, develop and retain talent.

Human Resources Manager

We are seeking an experienced, people-focused Human Resources Manager to join our senior leadership team at New World Centre City. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee engagement, compliance, and workplace culture. The Human Resources Manager will work closely with the Store Owners, Store Managers and Department Managers to ensure we continue to attract, develop, and retain talented team members while fostering a positive and high-performing workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes across the store.
• Provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations, performance management, and employment matters.
• Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and health and safety requirements.
• Coordinate training and development programmes to support team growth and succession planning.
• Manage staff engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
• Support workforce planning, rostering analysis, and reporting to meet operational requirements.
• Administer HR systems, documentation, and reporting in an accurate and timely manner.

Hours of Work:

Days and hours of work may be flexible and will be discussed with the successful candidate.

About You

• Previous experience in an HR, People & Culture, or Human Resources Management role.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and HR best practices.
• Experience managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and training programmes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business.
• Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands, and exercise sound judgement.
