Job summary

Kāinga Ora is seeking a practical, results-driven Construction Project Manager to lead the construction phase of multiple housing projects from Newmarket. You will ensure safety, on-time delivery, and standards while maintaining clear communication with the project team and stakeholders.

You will own site operations, manage build partners, coordinate with the project team on pre-starts, scheduling, health and safety compliance, and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' project management experience in construction.
• Strong understanding of NZS 3915 contract standards and NZS 3604 building standards.
• Skilled in contract management, negotiation, and resolving construction issues.
• Ability to prepare project schedules, manage risks, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and legislative requirements.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including working with iwi and community groups.
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organisational skills.
• Comfortable working in an Agile, team-based environment and embracing continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of government processes or similar environments is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction phase of multiple housing projects with safety, on-time delivery and quality.
• Take ownership of site operations and manage build partners.
• Coordinate pre-start meetings, resource planning, health and safety compliance and stakeholder engagement.
• Mentor Assistant Project Managers and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain strong reporting, risk management and relationships to keep projects moving.
