Job summary

Oceania Group is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support residents in Hastings to live with dignity, comfort and connection. You’ll provide personal care, assist with daily activities, and work closely with Registered Nurses in a supportive, values-driven team.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in caregiving, aged care, or a similar role.
• Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
• Clear communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
• Commitment to safety, dignity and resident-centred care.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care maintaining dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Assist residents with daily activities: hygiene, mobility, nutrition and hydration.
• Observe and respond to residents' needs, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and families/whānau.
• Create a safe, clean environment promoting wellbeing and independence.
• Follow individual care plans and collaborate with Registered Nurses for high-quality care.
• Communicate clearly with residents, families and the team.
• Maintain health, safety and infection control practices.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support residents to live with comfort, dignity, and independence, delivering care that is respectful, safe, and genuinely person-centred. You’ll focus on building trusting relationships and creating a calm, supportive environment where residents feel listened to, valued, and cared for. You will:

• Provide personal care in a way that maintains dignity, privacy, and comfort

• Support residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and hydration

• Observe and respond to residents' physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns appropriately

• Build warm, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau

• Create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing and independence
